Susan McCabe

Board of Education
(Independent Party Candidate 2009)

Susan McCabe moved to Watertown in 1981 when she joined the faculty at The Taft School. At Taft, Susan has served as a mathematics teacher, coach, advisor, and dormitory parent.

Susan was born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts. She attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick Maine, where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and later earned her Master’s degree in Mathematics from Wesleyan University.

A homeowner in Watertown since 1983, Susan lives with her husband Steve, who is also on the faculty at Taft. Her children, Kara, Katie, and Mike attended Watertown public schools through the eighth grade.

Susan served as a classroom volunteer and PTO officer at Baldwin School and was a WAYS coach for 8 years. She volunteered as a catechist and served on the Parrish Council at St. John’s church. This is the first time Susan has run for an elected office. She is a member of the Independent Party.

Although Susan did not grow up in Watertown, she is a product of public schools. As a teacher or a candidate, she has a “kids first” philosophy. Susan hopes to help direct how our newly improved school facilities can best be used to improve the educational experiences for Watertown’s children.
