From the Chairwoman

November 2025 - I want to thank everyone who supported the Watertown-Oakville Independent Party in the November 4 election. We are very grateful for the many donations, the volunteers who helped with our fundraisers and campaign, the people who put up yard signs and attended our events, and most of all, the voters who turned out to support our candidates. While the result was not what we had hoped, there are some bright spots worthy of mention.

We are proud of Independent Party Board of Education candidate, Karen Hosking, who received overwhelming support from the voters and was able to keep her seat on the Board of Education. Karen looks forward to continuing her service to Watertown and its students as an Independent Party member.

The biggest take away from the November 4 municipal election is that most voters want a change in leadership on the Town Council. 60% of the voters did not vote for the Republican candidates.  Unfortunately, that 60% was split between the Independents (31%) and the Democrats (29%), allowing the Republicans to retain control.

Watertown-Oakville residents need to remind the Republican controlled Town Council that the 60% demands change in their actions even though they retained their seats. Republicans doing more of the same is not OK with the majority of the people.

The Watertown-Oakville Independent Party has the momentum and will continue to advocate for the interests of all residents by fighting for honesty, integrity and transparency in the local government.

Community meetings will continue at the Watertown Library on the third Saturday of the month 10:30- 11:30 a.m. Other Party events will be posted on the Watertown-Oakville CT Independent Party Facebook page and in the local papers.

Two years is just around the corner. The fight continues. Change is within our grasp.
