From the Chairwoman

June 2025 - We believe that it is critical to KEEP VOTERS INFORMED.

The Independent party stands for HONESTY, INTEGRITY and TRANSPARENCY in

government.  Watertown has lacked this far too long, and IT'S TIME TO BRING IT BACK!

Watertown has been controlled by the Republicans for almost 2 decades.  Decisions

are made by Town Committee members (who were not elected by you) in meetings

which are not open to the public.  They do not solicit input from elected representatives

in the minority parties.  All boards and commissions are controlled by the Republicans.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.  It's time for fair and open government.

The Independent Party fights for transparency by SHINING LIGHT ON WHAT IS HAPPENING in our government.

For example:

  • In Town Council Meetings, the Republican majority members vote unanimously without discussion to explain their vote.

  • Members of the public ask questions, but they are ignored.

  • The public is not always informed about important decisions, like the lawsuit with the City of Waterbury, which will now cost over $34,000,000.

  • Too often, hiring decisions are based on who you know, not what you know.

The Independent Party does not operate in secret.  Our party meetings are OPEN TO ANYONE.  We don't care what party you belong to.

Look through our website, and get to know us, the Watertown Oakville Independent Party.  Come and check out our party meetings and community meetings.  You may find that you agree with us that it's time for a change in leadership.
