Misinformation was on full display in a Town Times article last week where Republican Town Committee Chairman, Dan DiVito, said, “Democrats and Independents have continually tried to stop progress and add to the debt.”
That is laughable. Watertown is one of the reddest Towns in Connecticut, and has been run by the Republicans for 15 years. The Town Council is currently comprised of 6 Republicans, 2 Democrats and 1 Independent. The Board of Education and every Board and Commission has a Republican majority. Everything, including our $34.9 million debt, can be laid at the feet of the Republicans.
If you are dissatisfied with what is happening in Watertown and don’t like seeing large tax increases, unqualified management and monumental legal debt which will take decades to pay off, there is only one party to blame. If you are a Republican who is angry about Watertown’s problems, you need to come to terms with the fact that it is your party who is creating the chaos.
If you want things to get better, you need to take action to change the party in control and vote for new leadership. You don’t have to change your party affiliation, just change your vote in November. It’s time.
